We're seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Director, Earned Media with deep beauty expertise for our Integrated Media team in New York. This role requires a strong pulse on culture, living and breathing beauty and haircare worlds across media, social, and real life. Ideal candidates are savvy media strategists passionate about beauty PR with integrated campaign expertise.
You'll lead earned media strategies for major beauty brands, serving as a trusted media partner and expert client counselor. Day-to-day involves proactive media outreach, client relations, and building editorial relationships from traditional outlets to podcasts and social channels. Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate earned media into holistic campaigns.
Mentor junior staff on pitching and account management while spotting trends for real-time opportunities. Develop press materials and evaluate impact to optimize strategies. Join a team that engages stakeholders creatively to build brands and reputations.
Requirements
- Savvy media strategist with genuine passion for beauty PR and integrated campaign expertise
- Constantly in the know on latest pop-culture and beauty trends
- Relationships with key beauty and lifestyle media
- Deep beauty expertise, especially in beauty and haircare categories across media, social, and real life
- Media connector with 6–8 years of PR experience and strong network of beauty and lifestyle editors, writers, and creators
- Strategic storyteller who connects brand goals to compelling earned storylines
Responsibilities
- Lead proactive and reactive media outreach to secure high-impact coverage across top-tier beauty, lifestyle, consumer, social-first and trade publications
- Serve as a key day-to-day client contact for earned media, presenting strategies, updates, counsel and recommendations
- Cultivate strong, ongoing relationships with editors, writers, producers, news-fluencers and emerging media voices across traditional and non-traditional platforms
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IAT partners and external agencies to shape holistic campaign plans integrating earned media
- Develop and manage media strategies for product and campaign launches, press trips, NYFW, stylist relations and cultural moments
- Stay on top of emerging beauty, wellness, social and pop culture trends to identify real-time opportunities
- Draft and edit compelling media materials including press releases, pitches, messaging docs, and executive talking points
- Mentor junior staff on pitching, relationship-building, newsjacking and account management
